The Northern Lights made a rare appearance in the UK over the weekend, with millions of Brits able to catch a glimpse of the stunning display - and there are signs another solar storm could be on its way
Brits may be in for another treat with the possibility of witnessing the Northern Lights once more, as signs point to an impending solar storm. This past weekend, the night skies were illuminated with dazzling hues, captivating those watching from as far south as Berkshire, Cornwall, and Kent.
"Predicting the next solar storm to any accuracy is all but impossible," he remarked. Nonetheless, there are indications that another storm could be on its way in the coming days, potentially enhancing the auroras once again. Brown continued, stating that the Sun will be "well on its way to being quiet again" and that the likelihood of extreme auroral events like those witnessed by Brits over the weekend "will go down considerably" until the next cycle in about a decade. It has been nearly 20 years since Brits last saw the night sky light up in such a manner, which was back in October 2003 during the previous G5 extreme-rated solar storm, reports Wales Online.
