Oakland entered Friday with a team batting average of .217 with runners in scoring position, a mark that ranked third-last in the major leagues. In those situations, before Friday’s game. they had struck out 106 times, tied for third-most in MLB. “I thought Ken went out there and grinded,” Kotsay said. “He got hurt tonight in the middle of the order. A couple of breaking balls just hung in the zone for Tucker, and they took advantage of it.”
