Expect scattered showers again at the end of the week.
have accumulated more than an inch of rain since a storm first swept through the region on Thursday, and it’s not showing signs of letting up any time soon.
Downtown Oakland picked up just over an inch of rainfall, while nearly an inch and a half was recorded in the East Bay hills. That was the most precipitation in the region during the recent weather system, according to Roger Gass, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. By comparison, just 0.38 to 0.47 inches of rain were recorded in downtown San Francisco and along the Embarcadero, and most parts of the North Bay, including Petaluma, saw about a quarter of an inch.
“Which is kind of ironic because that’s usually a drier spot,” Gass said. However, he explained that because the first weather system was focused to theand Monterey Bay, it’s likely some of that moisture seeped north toward the South Bay. See that swirl about 175 miles off of the N CA coast? That system will move eastward overnight & bring isolated to scattered rain showers & even isolated thunderstorms to the Bay Area and Central Coast overnight through Monday.
