Anna Nicole Smith’s ex, Larry Birkhead, is revealing new details on what it was like dating the infamous star. Smith had a son, Daniel Wayne Smith, who died in September 2006 from an accidental drug overdose. The former Playboy model died from an accidental overdose just a few months later in February 2007. He recalled spending time at the late model’s home, where her attorney, Howard K. Stern, was also a frequent fixture. Like we were in some kind of cult,” Birkhead said. “I didn’t want to be an entourage member, or whatever. I maintained independence I tried to as far as I could. I still worked and did my own thing. I wasn’t asking her for money, that kind of stuff.” “The people in the house, they were having their bills paid,” Birkhead continued. “But at the same time, people in the house were working for her.” He credited Stern with working “tirelessly” for her and acting like “a father figure” to her son but also felt the lawyer “stepped into the relationship territory” between Smith and Birkhead. The photographer also admitted it was difficult to have Smith keep their relationship so private, presenting herself as “this available goddess that people desired to be with. When she went out on a red carpet, that was what she projected. Like, you would want to be with this woman if you could be with this woman. That was part of her image.” He continued, “If she was on an interview, there’s tons of them out there, , ‘I haven’t had sex in years. Oh my god, no guy asks me out. I don’t go on a date.’ All that stuff. That was part of her thing.
