Published: Feb. 28, 2024 at 3:10 PM AKSTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - A large gathering of residents from around the borough huddled together at Pioneer Park for the March for Education before the school district budget forum on Feb. 27.

Ten individuals gave speeches or provided comments at the March for Education, each sharing their stories as those in the school district or those that once were. All of them touching on the impact the crisis will have on the community in the coming years. Nick Herzberg, a former student who went through the Fairbanks North Star Borough School district from kindergarten to 12th grade shared similar sentiments. He emphasized the impact that inadequate funds will have on the whole community.
