ANAHEIM — As the Angels head toward Tuesday’s MLB trade deadline, they will continue to look for something that has been rare in their franchise history.

Scrolling through the list of the most productive players in Angels history, almost all of them were either homegrown or they were acquired after they were major leaguers . Then over the last decade, when the Angels weren’t winning, they typically refused to part with their most attractive players – like Ohtani last year. By mostly trading away impending free agents or other pedestrian players, the Angels were generally unable to get back top prospects.It certainly didn’t generate big headlines when the Angels sent journeyman outfielder Kimera Bartee to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Figgins on July 13, 2001.
