Angela Rayner opens up on the terrifying abuse that's become 'normal' for her family
Angela Rayner has spoken out about the terrifying abuse she's received since becoming a politician - as she opened up about the toll on her family.
One of the messages said: "I hope your potty mouth and your big Scouse gob is happy that a father of five children is dead you scum. You are the only scum on this earth. I hope you get shot just like that poor bloke. You contributed to his death, you dirty scum." "I think that's quite sad that it's normal for them and they see that as part and parcel of what I do. I see it as another part of what I put up with. I take it seriously but I don't take it too seriously because that's what they want."
Rayner called for social media giants to 'do more' about anonymised abuse she and her colleagues receive online, as she fears it will put off members of the younger generation from getting involved in politics.
