Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has been announced as the projected winner of the Maryland U.S. Senate race against Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, according to the Associated Press. Alsobrooks, who has served as the Prince George's County State's Attorney for eight years and has twice been elected Prince George's County Executive, claimed victory after months on the campaign trail.Alsobrooks, a Democrat, announced on her social media pages, stating, "There aren't enough people in the U.S. Senate who live like, think like, and look like the people they're supposed to represent.
Alsobrooks grew up in Prince George's County and has had various roles in government. After graduating from Duke University and the University of Maryland School of Law, Alsobrooks worked as a law clerk in the Howard County Circuit Court and then in Baltimore's City Circuit Court. Down the road, she became the first woman to be elected Prince George's County State's Attorney. In 2018, Angela was elected Prince George's County Executive.
“The reason that we are all in for Angela is not because we’re afraid of the alternative. The reason we’re all in for Angela is because we believe in her vision," Moore said in late October after casting his early vote."And I can tell you that when I think about what it is that we hope for, that this is not about a political party, that I know that we stand with Democrats and Republicans and Independents when we say that now is the time for Angela Alsobrooks to head to the U.S.
