And if Montgomery can achieve a fraction of that success then he'll be a shrewd appointment for Hibs, who beat St Johnstone at the weekend to make it four points from the new boss' first two games in charge. His move to Easter Road comes off the back of A-League glory and Postecoglou has been in touch frequently - inviting him down to spend a day to see the cogs turn inside the Tottenham machine.

The whole club is behind him and they’re playing some fantastic football. He’s invited me down to spend a day at Tottenham and that’s something I’ll certainly do when the opportunity arises.”
