Anduril Industries and its CEO Palmer Luckey aim to take over Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar contract to build IVAS for the US Army.

Anduril Industries, led by Palmer Luckey , is set to take over Microsoft ’s contract for the U.S. Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System . The deal, first reported by Axios, originally tasked Microsoft with developing augmented reality goggles for military use. However, due to ongoing delays and performance issues, the tech giant is now looking to transfer the entire contract to Anduril . Microsoft ’s corporate vice president for mixed reality, Robin Seiler, confirmed the transition.

Despite these adjustments, the Army has not finalized its decision on mass production. The findings from IVAS 1.2 operational testing will reportedly be released between April and June, which will help determine whether to skip production, proceed with a limited run, or commit to a larger purchase.Luckey sees an opportunity in the transition, even if the future of the contract remains uncertain.
