A splash of cash in Victoria has once again thrown the Andrews government's spending under scrutiny against the backdrop of the nation’s highest debt bill.
According to the Herald Sun, the Andrews government splashed $293,425 to design and build the Breakthrough Victoria website for the state’s investment in innovation and digital technology.
However, the website’s price tag and a $1.4 million consultancy bill over 16 months has prompted the Liberals to once again attack the Premier’s transparency and spending. Shadow industry and innovation minister Bridget Vallence said Victorians deserved to get value for money from the $2 billion taxpayer funded investment.
The average Australian website build costs anywhere between $5,000 to $20,000 according to Melbourne based Webapex, which offers online systems and marketing solutions.
