Andrew McCarthy costars with his 'St. Elmo's Fire' costar Rob Lowe's son John Owen in 'Grace Point, which releases on all digital platforms Jan. 28, 29, as as a teenager named Brandon struggling with addiction. When his father Winston brings Brandon to a rehab facility in a rural area, the father-son duo are violently accosted — and Winston is wounded — while stopping for gas.
"Brandon captures the incident on his cell phone and is now on the run, all while detoxing," an official synopsis for the movie reads. "With the help of a mysterious stranger , Brandon must save his father, while dealing with the trauma of his past."marks just the second film role Lowe, the son of McCarthy's Brat Pack contemporary Rob, has taken in his burgeoning career.
"Addiction touches and torments so many people beyond the one using," McCarthy said of the movie in a release. "Entire families fall down rabbit holes of despair, but the rabbit hole inRob Lowe Marvels at Enduring Power of the Brat Pack with Andrew McCarthy: 'We Were So Lucky' "Any opportunity to shine a light on the struggles of addiction is one I take really seriously," John Owen, who is a producer on the project, said in a statement.
