Though Andrew Garfield's stunt double seemed to imply TheAmazingSpiderMan3 is in development, he later cleared up all confusion: It isn't happening just yet.

Andrew Garfield's Marvel stunt double William Spencer clears up confusion over whether The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is happening. After Tobey Maguire brought Spider-Man to the big screen and before Tom Holland revitalized the character for the MCU, Garfield tried his hand at portraying Peter Parker. He played Peter in both of Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man movies, which proved to be a mixed bag in terms of quality and financial success.

That culminated in the recent Spider-Man: No Way Home. Despite Garfield's best efforts at keeping it quiet, his high-profile cameo in the film was easily the most anticipated part. No Way Home's multiversal premise allowed Garfield's Peter to stand alongside Holland and Maguire, and thus gave him a second chance at bringing glory to his version of the character.

Even if Sony is considering The Amazing Spider-Man 3, it's highly unlikely Spencer would be involved at this point. The studio was going to make a third Spider-Man film with Garfield years ago, but tepid responses to the second movie sunk it. Fans are feeling good about Garfield's iteration of the character now, but seeing as Sony is embarking on its own Marvel universe, fitting in another Amazing Spider-Man movie would take serious consideration and planning.

If anything, this shows that fans probably should be careful with what they read online. Rumors are constantly contributing to misinformation, and this is especially true in the Marvel universe. Right now, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 isn't happening. However, if enough fans make their voices heard and Sony decides it is worth it, perhaps Garfield's Spidey will fly again. Just wait for an official announcement rather than a vague social media comment before celebrating.
