Cuomo fired back: 'New York doesn't add to Florida's bills — we pay them.'
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is not taking a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed by Sen. Rick Scott of Florida sitting down and isn’t waiting for op-ed space of his own to rebut his former fellow governor.
The latter was a reference to taxpayers’ former capacity to deduct their paid state and local taxes, including property tax, from federal income-tax bills. The 2017 tax law put a $10,000 ceiling on that deduction — a mere dent in the annual property taxes of many homeowners in states including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois and California.
