We chat with Andor writer Beau Willimon & EP Sanne Whohlenberg bout crafting a darker tone still in line with StarWars, bringing that stunning Luthen scene in episode 10 to life, and more:

Warning: SPOILERS for episode 10 of AndorAndor season 1 is nearing its end, wrapping up its three-episode prison arc with a stunning break as well as a shocking reveal about the true identity of one particular ISB agent. Despite being the longest live-action Star Wars series yet, Andor's captivating blend of action, intrigue, and emotion is likely to leave viewers hungry for more once the 12-episode season has concluded.

Sanne Wohlenberg: I think any project that really tickles me and interests me is about truth and humanity and things you can connect with, and Tony Gilroy [is] a writer who is fantastic at creating complex characters and intrigue. Bringing that to the Star Wars franchise, and a prequel telling the story of how Cassian Andor became the rebel that gives his life to the cause, was just a really exciting prospect.

[That] is what a producer does, and therefore, it's hugely varied. But really, you're just at the helm of trying to put the right team together to bring Tony's vision to the screens, and also overviewing to hopefully be instrumental and to make it the best it can be. Beau Willimon: First of all, Stellan is as good as it gets. And like I said before, I'm jealous that Sanne's gotten to work with him so much. We didn't know that it was going to be Stellan when we were working on the initial scripts of that episode, so we got very lucky that he was willing to come on board and give life to those scenes and the story of that character.

Sanne Wohlenberg: I also think it's such a daring thing to do, how it's staged. Really keeping this extraordinary speech out of vision and daring to wait for him. Everything about it is bold, brave, visionary, focused, and important. It's the kind of scene that gives me goosebumps.Sanne Wohlenberg: You did a very fine job there too. But the intent was so beautifully clear, and the work so extraordinary. It really is, for me, an absolutely extraordinary moment.
