EXCLUSIVE: Diego Luna on what makes Andor unique among StarWars shows 👀 'Andor is the most grounded Star Wars you'll get. This is about the people. There's no Jedi around... it should feel realistic to you, because we want that proximity.' 😯🤔

Andor star Diego Luna explains what makes the new Star Wars show different from all the others. Luna plays Cassian Andor in Andor, a prequel series to 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which told the tale of how the plans for the Death Star were stolen, enabling its later destruction by the Rebel forces. Rogue One was a massive hit, pulling in $1 billion worldwide and garnering generally favorable reviews from critics and fans.

Rogue One was directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Tony Gilroy, who would later step in to steer the film through rewrites and reshoots, delivering what was finally seen in theaters.

I wouldn't say it that way. What I would say is that Andor is the most grounded Star Wars you'll get. This is about the people. There's no Jedi around, and it's very dark times in the galaxy. It's when the people have to come together, articulate a response, and work in communities because the Empire is growing and control is everywhere. People have been marginalized, and there's no freedom. You have these communities having to react.

Although all of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's main characters sacrifice their lives by the end of the film, there's still an entire history that led to that moment, which is what Andor will examine. While Luna's Cassian is the lead character, there are many more players in the story, the majority of them being human, which reinforces his commentary about the show being the most realistic Star Wars show to date.

While The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi have all fared well with audiences in terms of streaming numbers and popularity, they've been somewhat mixed in terms of critical and fan reception, particularly the latter two. Much of those complaints came from the shows looking cheap or filmed entirely on a soundstage, the latter of which is mostly true.
