Alaskan vegans, vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike gathered at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts Sunday for the fourth annual Anchorage VegFest.

ByANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Vegfest featured vendors, speakers, cooking demonstrations and more. The event is open to the public and open for people to explore and learn more about plant-based food or lifestyle tips. “There’s not really another event like it.” said VegFest vendor Alyssa Schaefer. “If you’re vegan or interested in eating vegan there’s not another place where you can get all vegan and not be worried about what’s in different things.”

Vendors and bakers from across the state, as well as Anchorage’s first vegan restaurant, set up in the lobby to share all sorts of vegan pastries, dishes, fruits and vegetables. Festival goers also attended speaker sessions and wellness classes throughout the day. This year’s theme centered around plant-based protein and featured dietitian and exercise physiologist David Goldman, Dr. Csilla Veress and plant-based chef Winona Benson. There were also classes on cooking, yoga and fermentation.

Organizers said the event has grown each year and said they are looking forward to next year to spread plant-based lifestyle choices with more Alaskans.
