Student discipline policies are in line to be reviewed and possibly revised in Anchorage over the next few months, according to Anchorage School Board officials.

Mears Middle School Counselor Teresa Harrison said she’s taken note of a disturbing trend at her school. “Kids need to feel safe and welcomed in their school environment, not only by their teachers, but also by their peers,” she said. “Once they feel that inside, we can unlock the channels of learning, but it’s not until that happens.”
