An Anchorage police officer was injured while helping to reroute traffic after a rollover crash on the Glenn Highway. His cruiser was sideswiped by a vehicle, and a second cruiser was rammed into earlier in the incident.
An Anchorage police officer was injured Friday when a vehicle sideswiped his parked cruiser while responding to a traffic collision on the Glenn Highway near Eklutna. The Anchorage police officer was helping to redirect traffic off the Glenn Highway near Eklutna after a rollover crash around 9 a.m. closed the busy highway, and traffic was being rerouted over the Eklutna overpass. In addition to the sideswiped cruiser, a second cruiser was rammed into in an earlier incident.
Like the other collision, police said that cruiser was parked in response to the rollover. Unlike the other collision, the police cruiser was unoccupied and did not result in injuries. Police said in the case of the rammed cruiser, a southbound vehicle did not change lanes as directed. Anchorage police responded to the incident shortly before 9 a.m. and no serious injuries were reported. Photos from the scene show damage to at least one patrol car
