Timothy Bogus-Erwin, 35, was also accused of groping two other women and exposing himself on Tuesday in West Anchorage neighborhoods, according to a criminal complaint.
A 35-year-old Anchorage man accused of trying to sexually assault a woman in the middle of a busy West Anchorage street on Tuesday was arrested Friday, police said.
Timothy Bogus-Erwin is facing charges of attempted first- and second-degree sexual assault and indecent exposure. A man later identified as Bogus-Erwin approached a woman he didn’t know around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday after her car broke down near Northern Lights Boulevard and Wisconsin Street, according to a sworn affidavit written by Detective Chris Thomas. She was directing traffic while she waited for a tow truck, the affidavit said.Police said they responded to a separate call several blocks away shortly after Bogus-Erwin encountered the woman in traffic.
Officers found Bogus-Erwin and identified him as the suspect, then charged him with misdemeanor harassment and released him on his own recognizance, it said. Police on Thursday had released a photo of Bogus-Erwin and asked for the public’s help finding him. He was in custody at the Anchorage Correctional Complex by Friday morning.
