A 21-year-old man who police say shot at no less than four people near the woods around University Lake Park with a rifle late last month has been given assault and weapon charges stemming from the incident.
Police say Alex Manley had semi-automatic gun bought by his mother, became frustrated after playing shooter video gamesANCHORAGE, Alaska - shooting at passersby in the woodsReports of shots fired in the area around 10:30 p.m. that night spurred a response by SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams, among others. One man was reportedly shot in the back and taken to the hospital but did not sustain serious injuries.
Police said Manley denied being involved in the November shooting and said he was drinking, taking marijuana and playing video games on that night.On the morning of Dec. 24, police interviewed Manley at the Anchorage Jail, at which time Manley changed his account. Police also spoke with Manley’s wife, who told them the two of them were currently separated due to an ongoing domestic violence case and that he “frequently” gets mad when he does not take his bipolar medication. She said he threatens to shoot people when off his medication.
