The Anchorage Assembly will decide whether to overturn Mayor Dave Bronson's vetoes on legislation regarding their authority in the Eklutna Fish and Wildlife Program and the use of subpoena action for documents.
ANCHORAGE , Alaska - Just last week, Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson announced he was vetoing two forms of legislation passed by the Anchorage Assembly surrounding their authority in the Eklutna Fish and Wildlife Program and the use of subpoena action for documents.
“These threatening subpoenas are nothing more than scare tactics to bully municipal employees into potentially breaching municipal contracts,” wrote Bronson. Delivering the annual Anchorage Assembly Progress Report on Monday, Assembly Chair Chris Constant spoke on the “contentious” topic and mentioned the issues he had with the proposal put forward by the ownership group of the Eklutna Hydroelectric Project. That ownership group includes the Municipality of Anchorage, Chugach Electric Association and Matanuska Electric Association.
