Barring any hitches, Jerwin Ancajas and Eumir Marcial will go to the United States together late this month.
Once Ancajas gets his new visa, MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons will book him and Marcial, the new kid on the block, for a flight to Las Vegas.Marcial, the 2019 World Championships silver medalist and three-time Southeast Asian Games middleweight champion, has expressed his desire to bring along Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines foreign consultant Don Abnett and coach Ronald Chavez for his training geared toward the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and then a world title.
According to ABAP secretary general Ed Picson, they are supportive of Marcial's pro journey but it is really up to the Philippine Sports Commission to act on his request because the PSC is the one paying for the salaries of Abnett and Chavez. The new target month for Ancajas' clash with Mexican Jonathan Rodriguez is September, according to Jimenez, who is supervising Ancajas' preparations at the Danilo Atienza Air Base in Cavite City.
