African National Congress (ANC) chairperson in Gauteng Lesufi has expressed confidence in Kableo Gwamanda, saying that he was a suitable candidate to lead the city and strengthen what he called the alliance of local unity.
JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress chairperson in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, has rubbished claims suggesting that the party's mayoral candidate and Al-Jama-ah councillor, Kabelo Gwamanda, will fail in his duties should he be elected as Joburg mayor.
This comes as the ANC faces harsh criticism for its choice of mayoral candidates following the resignation of Al-Jama-ah's Thapelo Amad last week. The voting for a new mayor is expected to commence soon, with Gwamanda contesting for the position with ActionSA's Funzi Ngobeni and the Democratic Alliance 's Mpho Phalatse.Lesufi has expressed confidence in Gwamanda, saying that he was a suitable candidate to lead the city and strengthen what he called the alliance of local unity."We are going to strengthen his office with the needed capacity and skills.
