The ANC's peace and stability subcommittee says it's concerned about terrorism in Africa.
The committee, led by David Mahlobo, says although South Africa remains stable, it can't be used as a refuge. The committee is looking at strengthening peace and security in the AU.
"We have also noted the issues around the rise of terrorism and the issues of terrorism that have caused misplacement and displacement of our communities," Mahlobo said."We are actually calling for stability in the continent...therefore the issues of strengthening of the AU, peace and security architecture is an important element we're looking at.
"We are not worried about any terror attacks, but we're saying that SA can't be used as a safe haven in terms of planning, recruitment and financing of terror organisations."
