Former KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli, previously seen as an outsider in the race for the ANC secretary-general position, is now being backed by the ANC in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Ntuli is leading nominations for the secretary-general position, with 1 225 votes, despite a lack of endorsement from his home province of KwaZulu-Natal. Ntuli's closest competitor, Fikile Mbalula, received 749 nominations, while former Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle received 889 nominations.
