ANC dishonest about cadre minutes – DA
No employee of the public service can be preferred or favoured because that person supports a certain political party or issue.Mouths dropped at the Zondo commission this week when evidence leader Advocate Paul Pretorius announced that the minutes for this key ANC committee, which the DA has been asking for since February, did not exist.
Leon Schreiber, a DA member of Parliament and the party’s spokesperson on public service and administration, initially applied to Luthuli House, the ANC’s head office, in February for access to the minutes under the Promotion of Access to Information Act.The ANC has consistently refused to grant the DA’s requests on the grounds that the opposition party has no right to them, but it never said the documents did not “exist”.
The section stipulates that “no employee of the public service can be preferred or favoured because that person supports a certain political party or issue”.
