Once seen as a political outsider, opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema won Zambia's general election on Monday.
Hichilema got more than 2.8 million votes, beating his long-time rival President Edgar Lungu by a resounding margin. Lungu, the incumbent from the ruling Patriotic Front, got 1.8 million votes. Hichilema's United Party for National Development has been given a firm mandate.
