An homage to Dallas history and vision for future, downtown’s Harwood Park opens to public

A ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday marked the opening of Harwood Park in downtown Dallas.

Decherd retired from DallasNews Corporation’s board of directors this month.Decherd, who is chairman of the conservancy, spoke of the many years and the hard work that went into the completion of the four parks.During and after the ceremony, children climbed up and down the mammoth-shaped playground structures, the park’s most conspicuous feature.
