However, one player may outshine them both — a player who has largely been in the background this season.has dominated many of the running backs’ squatting competitions. Gainwell reportedly completed five 555-pound squats during an offseason weightlifting session, which was more than the other two. Although the session showed Barkley and Hurts squatting, Gainwell was not featured.
Gainwell’s power translates to the field, where he has averaged 4.7 yards per carry this season and 24.8 yards on 10 kickoff returns. Gainwell said he enjoys the friendly rivalry with Barkley during squat challenges.
