An anonymous Pakistani man reportedly walked into the Turkish embassy in the U.S. and donated $30 million to help the victims of the earthquake.
It’s hard to wrap one’s head around the devastating toll of the twin earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria last week, which have claimed more than 33,000 lives. But there is some small comfort in the outpouring of international support as aid rushes into the area — including this anecdote of an anonymous man who walked into the Turkish embassy in the U.S., and then donated $30 million for the earthquake victims.
His tweet was retweeted almost 2,000 times by the middle of Sunday afternoon, and had been “liked” more than 14,000 times. The Pakistani National Disaster Management Authority also tweeted on Saturday that two more relief shipments were headed to Pakistan’s “sisters and brothers” in Turkey to provide more aid.
