The Southwest Chief train was carrying about 243 passengers when it collided with a lorry in Mendon on Monday afternoon, Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said.Amtrak said its Incident Response Team had been activated, and emergency personnel were being sent to the scene to"help support our passengers, our employees and their families with their needs".
