Frictional Games has dropped ten minutes of fresh gameplay footage from upcoming horror sequel Amnesia The Bunker – proving its new setting looks to be just as terrifying as the previous games.
The Bunker – as the title suggests – takes the first-person horror formula that Amnesia is known for, but this time setting the events of the game in World War I. Anyone worried that the setting – usually in games used to portray a different kind of horror – might take away some of the creepiness and isolation that are the hallmarks of the Amnesia series should have their fears allayed by this footage.
Amnesia’s signature physics-interaction based interaction gameplay seems intact, with the player using bricks thrown at barricades to forge new pathways. You’ll also have some tools to help you avoid the monsters lurking in the darkness – such as a handheld torch – but of course, it won’t be easy with you having to keep it wound up to keep the light going.
Speaking of monsters, you won’t just have whatever is chasing you in the dark to worry about, as the clip also showcases some gnarly looking rats feasting on a corpse that’ll be sure to make your day just that little bit worse – and later in the video, as the player tries to make their escape from the monster chasing them, they’re forced to improvise with what they can to escape.
