Deen said he his digital forensics expert found that Jeffery was talking to his girlfriend on a cell phone at the time of the shooting. Deen added that Ring camera footage from Jeffery’s home in Semmes shows he was there at 11:03 p.m., right around when shots rang out downtown.

“He’s been sitting in jail this whole time, falsely accused,” he said. “And they were good enough to listen to our evidence that we presented them. ” This is not the first time that Jeffery has been caught up in a shooting investigation without being charged. In April 2024, he was involved in a on Pleasant Valley Road.

Surveillance video captured the entire incident. Police charged the other shooter, Jamarcus Grayson, with first-degree assault. But they declined to arrest Jeffery.to move forward against Coleman, the other man charged in the Joe Cain Day shooting. Blackwood declined to discuss details of the investigation, but he added that he believes police are closing in on another suspect.
