The IDF said Katz died in combat Saturday in southern Lebanon. "The IDF sends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his memory be a blessing," the military’s Instagram post said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also shared his condolences on social media. "Moshe immigrated to the land from the United States, enlisted in the Paratroopers Brigade, and fought bravely for the defense of our homeland," his post reads. "On behalf of all Israeli citizens, we embrace Moshe’s family in this difficult hour and wish a swift and complete recovery to our fighters who were wounded in that incident.""My heart is shattered and the wound is real," his father, Mendy Katz, said in a post on Facebook.The Jerusalem Post reported that three other soldiers were moderately wounded in the attack that killed Katz, and that five IDF soldiers have been killed in their military’s operations in Lebanon, where Israel has expanded an invasion since the beginning of the war on Feb. 28.
