The American Red Cross has several services they offer to members of the military.
) -The American Red Cross was officially founded over 140 years ago and almost immediately had their first partnership by helping United States soldiers on the battlefield during World War 1. Since then, that partnership has developed into Service to the Armed Forces. As part of the program, the red cross is responsible for coordinating emergency messages.
“That is something the military relies on. It’s so important because otherwise they may not get those messages,” said Rowland. One way they help veterans cope is with therapy dogs which they say helps with veterans who have PTSD. The red cross has a strong presence on some of our local military bases like NAS Pensacola and Eglin Air Force Base to help with everything from comfort kits, to baby showers for new moms and smoothing out the process for those just starting their careers.
