Austin Butler will take over the role that Christian Bale originated in 'American Psycho.'
Austin Butler is undoubtedly a star on the rise, having been nominated for an Academy Award for Baz Luhrman's Elvis and starring in major franchise films like Dune: Part Two. Some movie fans, however, are not happy with the announcement that the 33-year-old will play Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino's remake of American Psycho.The Challengers director, 53, will be helming the remake of Bret Easton Ellis's novel, which was made into a film starring Christian Bale in 2000.
'Other users protested the casting of Butler himself, and made suggestions for their preferred Patrick Bateman. 'what about jacob elordi, nicholas chavez, and drew starkey??' asked one user. Another suggested that the character shouldn't be played by someone who is already famous. 'Love Butler but he's gonna do a Christian Bale impression. If this has to be remade, going with an unknown & surrounding him with killers was the way to go.
