Set in 1857 America, 'American Primeval' is a fictionalized miniseries that depicts the brutal fight for survival and control of land amidst cultural, religious, and community conflicts. The series follows main characters battling for their lives and their right to the land in a world consumed by hatred and fear.
“This is America…1857. Up is down, pain is everywhere, innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hatred and fear,” reads the synopsis. “Peace is the shrinking minority, and very few possess grace — even fewer know compassion. There is no safe haven in these brutal lands, and only one goal matters: survival.
American Primeval is created and directed by Friday Night Lights’ Pete Berg from a screenplay written by The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith. The six-episode miniseries is executive produced by Berg for Film 44, Eric Newman for Grand Electric, and Mark L. Smith.
