Sargeant will become first American on F1 grid since Alexander Rossi in 2015
American Logan Sargeant’s space on Formula 1’s 2023 grid with the Williams F1 team was secured this weekend in Abu Dhabi after he finished fourth in the Formula 2 championship.that Sargeant would provisionally race for them in 2023. but he still had to reach 40 Super Licence points. Sargeant entered the finale of Formula 2 in Yas Marina still with the possibility of not finishing top seven in the standings, which is where he needed to finish to secure enough points.
Sargeant’s 2023 drive will be officially be announced by Williams on Monday ahead of his day in the FW44 during post-season test session at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit on Tuesday. Sargeant, 21, will be the first American to start a Formula 1 race since Alexander Rossi started five races for the Manor F1 team in 2015.
