Grammy award-winning country artist Carrie Underwood will reportedly join the 'American Idol' team as a judge for season 23 following Katy Perry's departure.
'American Idol' winner Carrie Underwood is expected to replace Katy Perry on the judging panel, according to Variety. The 'Jesus, Take the Wheel' singer won the fourth season of the popular singing competition show in 2005. Representatives for Underwood did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's inquiry, and ABC had no comment.
Underwood recently announced an extension of her 'Reflection' Las Vegas residency at Resorts World, with a number of shows added through spring 2025. ‘AMERICAN IDOL' ALUM SUGGESTS COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTAR AS KATY PERRY'S REPLACEMENT She began her residency in December 2021, and due to popular demand, extended the series multiple times. It's yet to be determined how her work in Sin City will affect filming and judging the singing competition.
