Authorities have detained a Thai woman after an American diplomat was found dead in Myanmar. The unidentified diplomat was found dead two weeks ago at a Myanmar hotel. An American diplomat was found dead in Myanmar’s largest city, the U.S. State Department told The Associated Press.
Police detained a Thai woman in connection with the investigation, the AP added, citing members of the diplomatic community in Yangon. The unidentified diplomat, who was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Yangon, the biggest city in Myanmar, was found dead two weeks ago at the Sakura Residence & Hotel.

Thailand’s Foreign Ministry explained to the AP that it has provided consular assistance to the woman in custody and informed her family.
