A 71-year-old flight attendant for American Airlines, Celinda Levno, died during a layover in Denver on Saturday evening. Her family told local news outlet KPNX-TV Phoenix that she died after being stabbed. Levno had been a flight attendant since 1989, beginning her career with America West, which merged with American Airlines in 2005. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) confirmed her death while on layover in Denver but did not specify the cause.

American Airlines released a statement saying she was the 'victim of a senseless crime' and is cooperating with law enforcement. Crews laying over in downtown Denver will be temporarily relocated to a hotel near the Denver airport. \The Denver Police Department reported three separate stabbings in downtown Denver between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on January 11. One victim, an adult female, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A family member of Levno confirmed to 9 NEWS that she was the victim of the stabbing on Saturday. There was another fatal stabbing on Sunday evening, and the suspect was taken into custody. However, investigators are still determining if the suspect was involved in Saturday's stabbings.\ Josephine Dale, a close friend of Levno's, described her as 'truly the most incredible and kind woman out there.' She added, 'Everything she did was for everyone else. A true animal lover, and a phenomenal musician. Overall, just an amazing woman. This is a devastating loss to everyone who knew her.
