Created by Graham Roland, the show is based on the Leaphorn & Chee series of novels by Tony Hillerman, the first book of which was released in 1978. The first season of Dark Winds adapted the first Leaphorn & Chee book, “Listening Woman”, while the second adapts the 1980 follow-up “People of Darkness”.
For Dark Winds season 2, Leaphorn and Chee are faced with the challenge of a mysterious—and dangerous—new case. More About Dark Winds Season 2 Dark Winds’ core cast and creative team are back for season 2. The first season marked Robert Redford’s return to TV, and the actor once again serves as an executive producer on this show in conjunction with George R. R. Martin, showrunner John Wirth, Anne Hillerman, and more. Of course, Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon are back as Lt. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, respectively, and they are joined by returning actors including Deanna Allison and Elva Guerra .
Dark Winds season 2 raises the stakes from the first season, as Leaphorn and Chee are chasing a killer determined to turn the hunter into the hunted. The pair must turn to Sgt. Manuelito and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena for help in order to catch the killer before the killer catches them. The season promises to challenge its characters emotionally as well as physically, unlocking new dimensions of both Leaphorn and Chee.
