Amazon To Tardy Sellers: If You Can’t Meet Prime Demands, It’s Time To Start Working Weekends

The e-commerce giant issued a warning to sellers who are failing to meet the two-day delivery promise.

It is now looking to exert more control over sellers who are taking too long to get packages to customers. According to the company, fewer than 16% of orders from third-party vendors in the U.S. who purport to offer Prime actually met the two-day delivery promise, even prior to the pandemic.

It’s a tall order for sellers. “What I think is happening is they are using this as a test to see how many sellers can actually migrate to that level of performance,” says James Thomson, chief strategy officer at Buy Box Experts, which helps brands sell on Amazon. He notes that Amazon would like to have sellers fulfill Prime orders, so it doesn’t have to.
