As a result, Alex is given the opportunity to attend Yale, but only under the condition that she joins an undercover team that oversees the use of magic by Yale's most important and secret societies. Unlike Shadow and Bone, Ninth House is targeted towards a more mature audience, and there is certainly a darker ambiance to the story.
