Amazon Prime Video just pulled a noticeable move that could make the streaming platform even more of a worthy contender.
If you have Amazon Prime Video and you’re an avid viewer of the major news networks, you’re in for a real treat. While quite a few prices for the major streaming platforms — think Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+, and HBO Max — have soared lately, Amazon Prime Video just pulled a move that could make it a top contender.
Coming off the heels of its major move this past summer, where it shut down the standalone Freevee app, Amazon has made a free upgrade for its U.S. subscribers.This means that subscribers who are in the U.S. have full access to local, national, and global news coverage from leading networks, according to a “The service aggregates hundreds of 24/7 news channels at no additional cost to viewers, including major linear streams,” the company shared. The news section will be free by the end of the year. Viewers can smoothly access the section through the top navigation in the Prime Video app. The total selection is set to have over 200 channels by the end of the year.
