Amazon is lending a helping hand to ABC7's Feed SoCal food drive. The company delivered truckloads of food to Food Share Ventura County this past week.
"Every calorie behind me is the difference between someone making it through that day or not and as a child that experienced hunger I know how vital it is," said David Amboz of Amazon Public Policy, Community Engagement."I myself grew up homeless and often accessed food bank resources, so to be part of a company doing this work is incredibly meaningful to me," he told Eyewitness News.
In addition to food, Amazon also donated $5,000. Resources that the food banks says are very much needed. "We've seen an increase in need. Inflation has been incredibly impactful. We've seen more people needing food assistance so when people can donate it always helps," said Monica White, the CEO of Food Share Ventura County."You want to give these people something they can use, something to make their family happy, something for their kids and be healthy for their kids," said Peter Haines, a Pantry Partner at Thousand Oaks Seventh Day Adventist Church.
