A leaked Amazon generative AI sales playbook shows how the company is going after ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, Microsoft and Google

and an array of related cloud products as key selling points when approaching business customers interested in this new technology.

"Help your customers get started on a technical path towards integrating Generative AI capabilities within their software and operations, all powered by custom ML models they host using AWS managed ML services ," the playbook states. In an email to Insider, an Amazon spokesperson said the company has over 20 years of experience in machine learning and AI, with many products already being powered by those technologies.

"Many of the world's leading foundation models are available through SageMaker, and customers can get started with these easily through SageMaker JumpStart," it said. JumpStart provides quick access to pre-trained AI models and tools that enable certain tasks, such as image generation. The guidelines also encourage Amazon salespeople to position AWS as a more seasoned vendor than competitors, such as OpenAI, which launched its first mainstream app ChatGPT last year.
