To accommodate an enrollment growing by 1,000 students every school year, Alvin ISD is set to open the new Delbra Orum Nichols-Wilma Fountain Mock Elementary School and a completely rebuilt Harby Junior High School when classes start on Aug. 9.approved by district voters in 2018. The district had roughly 29,000 students enrolled during the 2022-23 school year.The Nichols-Mock Elementary School, 10805 Crystal View Drive in Rosharon, cost $28.59 million to build.
Purchase of the 18-acre site was approved by voters in a 2015 bond election, and school construction began in February 2022.was needed to handle growth as elementary schools serving the Sierra Vista, Sterling Lakes and Meridiana communities reach enrollment capacities, said Renae Rives, the district's executive director of communications.
Harby is in the feeder pattern for Alvin Elementary School, 2200 Westpark Drive, and Bob and Betty Nelson Elementary, 14400 County Road 185. Its students proceed to Alvin High School, 802 S Johnson St.
