To help conserve water, Delaware residents are asked to only water lawns on even or odd days, depending on their address number, a trend that may continue through the summer.

Officials in Delaware say they expect alternate day watering to continue throughout the summer. June 6, 2023 Water customers in the city of Delaware and an eight-county region served by Del-Co Water can expect that request forThe city of Delaware, which provides water for 16,500 city customers, and Del-Co Water, serving a large area to the north of Delaware, had asked for a ban on watering through parts of this week.

Many large water consumers, like golf courses, have their own water systems. Brad Crissinger, superintendent for the Oakhaven Golf Club, said water for his sprinklers comes from a well deep under the course and feeds a four-acre lake. From there it’s pumped to sprinklers to keep his fairways and greens green.In the city of Delaware, development is leading to higher demand. Lee Yoakum, spokesman for the city, said they made a request of developers during this strain on the system.
